Native to South Africa, Drosera capensis features strap-like leaves covered in bright red, dew-coated tentacles. When an insect lands on the sticky glue, the entire leaf dramatically curls inward around its prey to digest it—making it a fascinating living flytrap and an absolute powerhouse at controlling indoor fungus gnats and fruit flies.
Care Instructions:
Light: Full sun to strong grow lights (4–6+ hours of direct light produces thick dew and vibrant red tentacles).
Water: Distilled, reverse osmosis, or rainwater only (tap water minerals will harm it). Keep the pot standing in a tray with 1–2 cm of water year-round.
Soil: 4:1 mix of pure peat moss and perlite. Never use regular potting soil or fertilizers.
Temperature & Hardiness: Thrives in temperatures between 65°F–85°F. Hardy down to 32°F in USDA Zones 9–11; if hit by a brief frost, top foliage may die back, but it readily grows back from the roots.
Dormancy:No winter dormancy required! As a tropical/subtropical species, Drosera capensis grows continuously year-round indoors under warm, bright conditions.
Shipping Information:
Bare-Root Delivery: All carnivorous plants are shipped bare-root (no soil or container) to keep shipping safe and affordable.
Cold Weather Shipping: A 72-Hour Heat Pack is required if daytime or nighttime temperatures in your area are below 40°F. Orders shipped to freezing regions without a heat pack cannot be guaranteed against cold damage.
Native exclusively to the coastal bogs of North and South Carolina, the "Typical" Venus Flytrap represents the classic form of the world's most famous botanical predator. Each leaf consists of a flat stalk ending in a clam-like trap lined with inter-locking cilia (teeth). When an unsuspecting insect brushes against internal trigger hairs twice within a few seconds, the trap snaps shut in a fraction of a second. Under strong outdoor sunlight, the interior of the traps flushes a deep, rosy red to attract flies, ants, and wasps.
Care Instructions:
Light:Full outdoor sun (6+ hours of direct sunlight daily). If grown indoors, a high-output LED grow light is strictly required.
Water: Distilled, reverse osmosis, or rainwater only (mineral/tap water will kill the plant). Keep substrate sitting in a shallow tray of water at all times during the growing season.
Soil: A 4:1 mix of peat moss and perlite. Never use standard potting soil or fertilizers.
Temperature & Hardiness: Prefers 68°F–90°F during summer. Temperate native (USDA Zones 7–9)—thrives outdoors in full sun during spring, summer, and fall.
Winter Dormancy:Required. From late autumn to early spring (roughly 3–4 months), the plant stops growing and leaves may turn black and die back as it rests. Keep in a cool spot between 32°F–50°F with damp (not waterlogged) soil until spring warmup.

Native to the damp pinelands and bogs of the southeastern United States, Pinguicula primuliflora features bright lime-green, tongue-shaped leaves coated in a fine, sticky dew that traps fungus gnats and fruit flies. Unlike Mexican butterworts, this warmth-loving warm-temperate species thrives in consistently boggy conditions and is famous for producing novel plantlets directly at the tips of its mature leaves, making it a rewarding species to grow and propagate.
Care Instructions:
Light: Bright indirect light to gentle morning sun, or high-output LED grow lights (avoid harsh, midday summer heat).
Water: Distilled, reverse osmosis, or rainwater only (tap water minerals are harmful). Keep soil consistently wet year-round using the tray method—this species prefers more moisture than Mexican Pinguicula.
Soil: A mix of equal parts pumice, perlite, coarse silica sand, and peat moss. Never use standard potting soil or added fertilizers.
Temperature & Hardiness: Prefers 65°F–82°F. Subtropical/warm-temperate hardiness (USDA Zones 8–10); can handle light winter chills down to 41°F, but must be protected from freezing.
Dormancy:No dry succulent phase. It remains carnivorous year-round, undergoing only a mild slowdown in growth during cooler, shorter winter days. Keep the substrate damp at all times.

Native to South Africa, Drosera aliciae or ‘Alice sundew’ forms a rosette of wedge-shaped leaves that glisten with dew. Lined with hundreds of sticky, glue-tipped tentacles, this compact species is fantastic for trapping fruit flies and fungus gnats while taking up minimal space in your plant collection.
Key Care & Specs
Light: Full sun to bright, high-intensity grow lights (4–6+ hours of direct light triggers deep red coloration and heavy dew).
Water: Distilled, reverse osmosis, or rainwater only (minerals in tap water burn the roots). Keep the pot standing in a shallow water tray or saucer year-round.
Soil: 4:1 mix of pure peat moss and perlite. Never use standard potting soil or fertilizers.
Temperature & Hardiness: Prefers 59°F–82°F. Hardy down to 32°F in USDA Zones 9–11; brief light frosts may kill back foliage, but it re-sprouts quickly from thick roots.
Dormancy:No winter dormancy required. It grows continuously year-round indoors under warm temperatures and bright light.
